In early 2022, the Planning & Operations Team at RMIT University developed a vision for the deployment of emerging/future technologies in the university’s heralded “Building 80.” Identifying Vision One as a national leader of innovative AV/IT infrastructure, RMIT began exploratory conversations with our technologies team to develop and propose a solution that was both cutting-edge and functionally-sound. We evaluated the entire technology gamut – from immersive, digital kiosks to virtual human holograms – and settled on a digital signage-based, holographic solution, powered by the award-winning technology, HYPERVSN.

HYPERVSN is the award-winning technology company responsible for developing the highly-disruptive 3D holographic display that provides an immersive experience for viewers.

Founded in 2011 and initially backed by Sir Richard Branson and now more recently Mark Cuban, HYPERVSN redefines the concept of visual storytelling, bringing personalised, engaging and impactful interactions to end-users. HYPERVSN devices have been named among the world’s most impressive products by BBC, CNN, Mashable & USA Today. To date, HYPERVSN has won numerous industry awards, including the ShellLiveWire & the Top 3 British Innovations of the Year.

To demonstrate the technology as a “test-case” (before fully-deploying as fixed architecture), RMIT requested a mobile configuration of the HYPERVSN Wall be built for the October, 2022 launch of “Digital3” at the Capitol Theatre. Our experts quickly went to work on developing a portable concept, leveraging our network of metal-works fabricators and engineering designers.

Our solution adapted the HYPERVSN Wall Frame to a portable AV trolley, with delicate and specific metal-works conducted to ensure both a cosmetic and “operable-with-ease” outcome.

With the success of the portable HYPERVSN Wall at the Capitol, RMIT and Vision One proceeded with a fixed deployment in the main foyer of Building 80 – the Swanston Academic Building (SAB); home of the College of Business and heralded as one of the most iconic buildings of RMIT University (proudly designed by another Vision One client, Lyons Architects).

Our team engineered and fabricated a bespoke and curvatured wall brace, perfectly adaptable to the supplied HYPERVSN Frame. We fixed the frame to a lateral adjustment bracket, providing swivel and articulation flexibility and ease-of-install capabilities.

With the power of HYPERVSN’s cloud-based 3D Studio, Vision One’s design team developed a short animation that featured the RMIT logo, rotating around a flared, burst effect. This animation played in perpetuity, literally “wow-ing” guests on arrival.
