Betty Caldwell Hall reimagined: PLC steps up to the tech-revolution plate.
With a long and trusted partnership spanning multiple projects across campus, Vision One Technologies was proud to once again collaborate with Presbyterian Ladies’ College (PLC) on a major transformation of the iconic Betty Caldwell Hall. This ambitious project centred around a striking large-format LED display installation and a complete overhaul of the hall’s audio-visual ecosystem. Extensive planning, detailed design and expert execution were required to seamlessly integrate new technology with existing Vision One infrastructure — delivering a future-ready performance and presentation space worthy of PLC’s reputation for excellence.
- Create a show-stopping visual centrepiece: Deliver a high-impact LED display solution to replace legacy projection, elevating visibility, brightness and flexibility for assemblies, performances and events.
- Unify new and existing AV infrastructure: Seamlessly reintegrate previously installed Vision One video walls into a single, intuitive control environment with consistent performance across the hall.
- Enable professional-grade audio, control and streaming: Provide exceptional sound reinforcement, flexible AV-over-IP distribution and live streaming capabilities to support PLC’s diverse use cases — from school assemblies to high-profile events.

Built on legacy. Elevated by design.
The project began with the decommissioning of existing projection and audio infrastructure, allowing the hall to be reimagined around a new visual and performance-led centrepiece. Taking pride of place on the rear wall, Vision One supplied and installed a ViewSonic Indoor All-in-One LED Display (4200 x 2360), complete with a NovaStar Processor, delivering brilliant clarity, high brightness and reliability for large audiences.
Existing Vision One-installed video walls flanking the stage were carefully neatened, refreshed and fully reintegrated into the new system, ensuring a cohesive visual experience and extending the value of prior investments.

Sound that doesn't just fill the room, but commands it.
Audio throughout the hall was completely transformed with the installation of a professional-grade DB Technologies Sound System. Front-of-house coverage was achieved using high-performance active speakers, supported by dedicated passive subwoofers and power amplification to deliver depth, clarity and impact for both speech and music. A centrally positioned speaker ensures even coverage across the audience area, while coaxial active stage monitors provide performers and presenters with accurate, responsive foldback. Backstage spaces were also equipped with dedicated active speakers, ensuring clear audio monitoring behind the scenes.
Total control. Infinite possibilities.
At the core of the system, Vision One deployed a powerful Crestron AV-over-IP solution using DM NVX technology, creating a fully flexible distribution environment where any input can be routed to any output across the hall. This includes video walls, the LED display, confidence monitors, stage preview screens and backstage displays. Intuitive Crestron touchscreens, installed at both the lectern and on stage, allow staff to easily select presets, manage sources and control the system with confidence. Audio signal processing is handled by a Crestron DSP with Dante, providing advanced processing, clean signal flow and future-ready scalability across the networked audio environment.

Ultimate performance designed to support.
To support live events and digital engagement, Vision One implemented a professional camera and streaming solution, featuring dual RGBlink PTZ Cameras with 20x optical zoom, discreetly mounted to capture performances and presenters with precision. These cameras feed into a dedicated streaming switcher, enabling PLC to live stream events, record content and distribute video internally or externally with broadcast-quality results. The camera and streaming workflow is fully integrated into the Crestron DM NVX environment, ensuring seamless operation alongside in-room AV.
Bells and whistles that matter.
Additional enhancements included the installation of a Podion Lectern customised with the schools logo, complete with integrated AV connectivity and microphone support, providing a polished focal point for presenters. A new Caymon 32RU Floor-standing Equipment Rack was supplied and configured to house the upgraded system hardware, alongside a comprehensive Sennheiser Digital Wireless Microphone Solution, including handheld, lavalier and gooseneck microphones with active antenna distribution and networked charging. Confidence and backstage monitoring displays, Dante I/O integration and full system testing and commissioning completed the project — delivering a refined, performance-ready AV environment built to support PLC’s needs now and into the future.

PLC sets the benchmark for powering an AV/T future.
The LED display delivers vibrant, high-resolution visuals that dramatically outperform traditional projection, even in challenging lighting conditions.
Enhanced sound reinforcement and integrated streaming empower PLC to host events with confidence — in-room and beyond the hall walls.
Crestron AV-over-IP allows PLC staff to effortlessly configure zones, scenes and content routing for any event or application.
A scalable, standards-based AV architecture ensures the system can evolve with PLC’s needs for years to come.
