The Shire of South Gippsland is a local government area in Victoria, Australia, located in the south-eastern part of the state. It covers an area of 3,296 square kilometres (1,273 sq mi) and, in June 2018, had a population of 29,576. It includes the towns of Leongatha, Korumburra, Foster, Poowong, Mirboo North and Meeniyan.

Working closely with the council’s Information Services team, Vision One deployed a projection system and audio conferencing/live streaming upgrade works in the Council Chambers.

To begin, we supplied and installed 2x Epson EB-L1490UNL 9,000 ANSI Lumens Projectors with ELPLM15 lenses on Ultralift 3m Ceiling Posts, and projected onto existing Screen Technics Fixed Frame Projection Screens.

We completely overhauled the control system, developing, configuring and installing a new and dedicated Kramer Control System. The Kramer Control System comprised of:

  • 1x VP-778 8-Input Presentation Matrix Switcher
  • 1x Wall-Mounted KT-107 7” Touch Panel Controller
  • 1x SL-240 16-Port Master Room Controller
  • 1x VIA Connect Pro Wireless Presentation Device

For the control interface/GUI, we collaborated with the guys at Smart Home Programming & Automation and delivered a bespoke design and practical functionality to meet the council’s needs.

We returned to South Gippsland Shire Council a month later and supplied and installed:

The concept was as follows: each camera would cable back to an individual HDMI input on the Epiphan Pearl, while the Shure Microphone would connect to the Epiphan Pearl’s audio input, via Audio/USB OUT of the Tesira Forte DSP. An additional HDMI OUT on the existing Kramer matrix would be routed to a final HDMI input on the Epiphan Pearl, offering an additional video input to display laptop/projected content. Ultimately, the Epiphan Pearl would be used as a central “hub” to conduct live streaming/conferencing of council meetings to its local constituents.

Incredibly easy to use, the Epiphan Pearl 2’s intuitive touch screen makes switching between your video sources and layouts a breeze. Or use the browser-based Epiphan Live and switch from almost anywhere using a tablet, PC, or mobile phone. Users can also simultaneously live stream to YouTube, Facebook or other content delivery networks and content management systems using SRT, HLS, MPEG-DASH, custom RTMP/RTMPS, and RTSP. At the same time, use the built-in streaming server to stream locally to web browsers, smart TVs, and set-top boxes.
