Mount Clear College is a public high school in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia. It was established after two secondary colleges, Ballarat Boys’ Technical School and Ballarat Girls’ High School amalgamated in 1981. The IT team at Mount Clear College reached out to Vision One to deliver a brand new, state-of-the-art audio visual solution for their recently refurbished theatre space.

With colour, simplicity and breathtaking technology in mind, the vivid Epson L1405UNL 8,000 ANSI Lumens Laser Projector was paired with a Short Throw Lens, enabling a 200″ image size to be projected from a 3m throw distance. This meant that the projector could also be used to transmit digital backgrounds/videos for school performances without the prohibitive glare of a standard or long throw projection lens. A Grandview 200″ Motorised Projection Screen was painted black and installed to the front wall, acting as the ultimate unobtrusive projection canvas.

Turbosound stole the show in this project, with the implementation of their breathtaking Line Array solution. We installed 8x TLX43 Turbosound Line Array Elements onto the existing fly bars and paired these with a 3000 watt 15” Front Loaded Subwoofer. The 2-way full range TLX43s are compact biamplified dual 4″ 600-Watt line array elements, ideally suited to a broad range of speech and music sound reinforcement applications, making them the ideal choice for Mount Clear College. A D404L 4x 1000w Power Amplifier with in-built DSP and DANTE audio transport features powered the line array elements while a Behringer X32 40-input Digital Mixing Console with 32 Programmable MIDAS Preamps was installed in the Bio Box for audio control. Microphone signals can be sent to the digital console via 2x S16 16 Channel I/O Stage Boxes, strategically located on the stage and connected via a digital CAT6 snake.

An HDMI and 3.5mm Audio Wall Plate was installed to the side of an equipment rack, granting both HDMI and iPhone/MP3 playback from the front of the stage. A secondary HDMI input was also provided for connectivity in the Bio Box.

The system is controlled via the use of 2x custom Vision One JED T440 wall controller, offering users ON/OFF, VOLUME control and SOURCE selection functionality from both the stage and the Bio Box.
